Laparoscopic Hernia Repair
A minimally invasive surgical treatment for hernias that minimizes recurrence of hernia. After anesthesia is administered, a small incision is made in or under the belly button, air is inserted into the abdomen, and the surgeon inserts a small scope to light the procedure. Other instruments are inserted through small incisions in the abdomen to repair the hernia, and a mesh is placed over the damaged portion of the abdominal wall. This procedure can be done to repair inguinal, incisional and umbilical hernias.
