About Tsung-Yen Hsieh, MD

Tsung-Yen Hsieh, MD, is a board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon with Keck Medicine of USC who treats adults and children for a wide range of conditions. He specializes in functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty; facial rejuvenation surgery (facelift, browlift, eyelid lift); facial nerve paralysis and reanimation; facial trauma reconstruction; skin cancer reconstruction; scar revision; microvascular reconstruction; and noninvasive aesthetic treatments such as laser treatment, platelet-rich plasma, botulinum toxin treatment and fillers. In addition, he cares for patients with congenital and complex craniofacial conditions, including cleft lip and palate, microtia and other ear differences, vascular anomalies and facial differences requiring reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Hsieh believes that the most important part of his relationship with patients is trust. He strives to create an environment where his patients and their families feel heard, fully informed and supported in making decisions that reflect their individual goals, needs and values. Dr. Hsieh is also committed to expanding access to high-quality reconstructive care through global surgical outreach programs in Central America, Asia and Africa, including caring for children with cleft lip and palate and patients with facial trauma and other complex reconstructive needs. He believes that every patient deserves compassionate and individualized care that restores both function and confidence.

Dr. Hsieh is board-certified in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, where he also completed his residency in otolaryngology — head and neck surgery. He then completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Hsieh serves as a clinical assistant professor of otolaryngology — head and neck surgery at the Keck Schol of Medicine of USC, where his research focuses on advancing facial plastic and reconstructive surgical care for patients with facial trauma, skin cancer defects, facial paralysis and congenital differences like cleft lip and palate. He also studies aesthetic facial medicine, including approaches that improve safety, outcomes and patient satisfaction in facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty. He has a special interest in emerging technologies like 3D printing, virtual surgical planning and simulation, and artificial intelligence to make complex surgeries more precise, personalized and effective. His goal is to develop and evaluate innovative techniques that improve both facial function and appearance while expanding access to high-quality surgical care.

In his free time, Dr. Hsieh enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Los Angeles’s diverse food scene, traveling and reading.

My philosophy of care is to combine technical precision with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach. In facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, every treatment plan must balance appearance, function and the patient’s individual goals. I listen carefully, provide honest guidance and work collaboratively with patients to achieve natural-looking, durable results that restore or preserve function and help them feel confident and comfortable.
