About Mohammad Soleimani, MD

Mohammad Soleimani, MD, FICO, is an ophthalmologist, cornea and cataract surgeon with Keck Medicine of USC. He is the division chief of cornea, external disease and refractive surgery for the USC Roski Eye Institute at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

Dr. Soleimani is a leader in cornea and refractive surgery. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex corneal and ocular surface diseases, including severe corneal infections, dry eye disease and ocular surface injuries. His expertise also includes corneal transplantation, refractive surgery and the management of complex conditions that can threaten vision. He believes that trust, careful listening and open communication are essential to developing a treatment plan tailored to each patient’s individual needs and goals.

Dr. Soleimani received his medical degree and completed his ophthalmology residency and cornea fellowship at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He subsequently completed fellowships in ocular science, ocular regenerative medicine and ocular surface at the University of Illinois Chicago.

At the Keck School, Dr. Soleimani serves as a professor of clinical ophthalmology. His research focuses on improving the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and ocular surface diseases, including the use of artificial intelligence for earlier detection of eye infections, regenerative and stem cell-based therapies, and improving outcomes after corneal transplantation and complex eye surgery.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling and exploring new places and cultures. He also enjoys reading and staying engaged with advances in medicine and technology.

I believe excellent eye care begins with listening and building trust. I take the time to understand each patient’s concerns and goals, explain the available options clearly and develop an evidence-based treatment plan tailored to the individual.
