Kara Bates , RD
Kara Bates, MS, RD, is a clinical dietitian with Keck Medicine of USC who specializes in nutrition support and perioperative nutrition care, particularly for patients undergoing general surgery, colorectal surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, hepatobiliary surgery and thoracic surgery.
In her work with patients, Bates prioritizes being a consistent source of support throughout surgical preparation and recovery by helping patients understand how nutrition fits into their overall care plan.
Bates earned her Master of Science in nutrition and dietetics from Loma Linda University, where she also completed her dietetic internship through the university’s Coordinated Nutrition and Dietetics Program. She is also a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, designated by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification.
Bates is a California native who enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends.
