About Alexander Markarian, MD

Dr. Alexander Markarian is a board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a board certified head and neck surgeon. He did his medical school training at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, graduating with top honors. He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the LAC+USC Medical Center. He then went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills, with Dr. Frank M. Kamer. Dr. Markarian then returned to USC as an assistant professor in the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and is currently the director of its Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division.

Dr. Markarian has a busy private practice at USC, providing care in all aspects of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in facial aesthetic surgery, rejuvenation of the aging face, revision cosmetic surgery, primary and revision rhinoplasty (nasal reshaping surgery), facial paralysis rehabilitation, and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. His research focuses on scarless wound healing, stem cell research and new treatments for facial paralysis. He teaches medical students, interns and residents at USC,; as well as givesing lectures at both regional and national meetings.

Dr. Markarian's philosophy is treating the individual needs of his patients in a caring and understanding manner. He listens to the needs of each patient carefully and offers sound expertise that is tailored to the individual. He upholds to the highest medical standards and offers treatment to his patients in a safe and comfortable environment.
