Join us for the Doc Talks Lecture Series, an educational program hosted at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in collaboration with the YMCA. This series features local medical experts delivering key health information and community wellness updates in a welcoming setting.

This hybrid event will show how modern technology is changing the way doctors approach a prostate cancer diagnosis. Dr. Andre Abreu , an expert in using advanced imaging and robotic surgery, will explain how we now use “smart” tools like Artificial Intelligence to find cancer cells more accurately than ever before. This talk will cover who should get checked and how new “focal therapies” can treat the cancer specifically without the heavy side effects of traditional surgery.

What we will cover

  • Hear from Dr. Andre Abreu, the Director of Image-guided Surgery at the USC Institute of Urology.
  • See how Artificial Intelligence helps doctors read scans to improve the accuracy of a prostate cancer diagnosis.
  • Learn about focal therapy, a precise treatment that targets only the cancer and helps patients recover faster.
  • Get updates from a lead researcher who is currently running clinical trials to find better ways to fight this disease.
