Jennifer Rios, MS, LCGC, is a genetic testing and counseling specialist at Keck Medicine of USC, who offers care to people at risk of developing cardiovascular conditions, including a personal or family history of aortic aneurysm and dissection, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia and sudden death syndrome.
As part of Keck Medicine’s USC Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Rios contributes to the growth of the USC Genetic Aortic and Related Disorders (GARD) Center and the USC Turner Syndrome Clinic.
Her research interests focus on aortic diseases, including inherited connective tissue syndromes such as Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and familial thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection (familial TAAD).
Rios is board certified in genetic counseling. She is the recipient of a Public Health Genetics and Precision Medicine Fellowship from the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Rios was also awarded a research grant from the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health for her study, “Life with Aortic Disease: Caring for Your Mental Health.”
Away from work, she enjoys time with family. Her favorite place is the beach during a sunny day, along with a good book to pass the time.
