J. Martin Heur, MD, PhD, specializes in corneal transplantation and diseases of the cornea and the external eye.
Among his research priorities is corneal endothelial wound healing. The endothelium is a single layer of delicate cells on the inner aspect of the cornea that helps maintain hydration and nutrition. His ultimate goal is to leverage research insights for developing new treatment strategies for corneal endothelial disease.
Dr. Heur’s investigations have gained support from organizations such as the National Eye Institute, Research to Prevent Blindness, the Baxter Foundation, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Fight for Sight and the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
