About Maxine Wallis Stachel, MD
Maxine W. Stachel, MD, is a cardiologist at Keck Medicine of USC, specializing in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. Dr. Stachel is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Dr. Stachel received her medical degree from Tel Aviv University in Israel and then returned to New York to complete her internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at New York University. During her fellowship, Dr. Stachel served as chief fellow, was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was selected by the medicine residents for their Fellow of the Year teaching award. She then completed a fellowship in advanced heart failure, transplant cardiology and mechanical circulatory support at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was recently elected as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Her clinical and research interests include the prevention and treatment of heart disease among patients with cancer and amyloidosis, as well as strategies to reduce health care disparities among patients with end-stage heart failure being considered for advanced therapies, such as left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) or heart transplantation.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Stachel is thrilled to make her new home on the West Coast. She is passionate about her ongoing search for the best bagel in Los Angeles.
“I believe every patient deserves timely, compassionate, evidence-based care that is personalized to meet their specific needs and goals.

“I am committed to building a collaborative relationship with each of my patients — to understanding their priorities, interpreting their medical data, communicating their options and answering every question clearly and without judgment — so that we can make informed decisions together that will hopefully extend the length and quality of their lives.”
