Frozen shoulder describes the extremely painful condition where the shoulder “freezes up” and loses its normal range of motion due to inflammation. The condition can occur without warning, but sometimes may be triggered by an injury. The symptoms begin with pain followed by stiffness and loss of use. It can take two or more years for the pain to ease.
