Imaged-guided Procedures

Minimally Invasive Procedures

The Division of Body Imaging at USC Radiology performs a variety of image-guided procedures. The members of the body division have extensive experience and are experts at various interventions, which may be used for either diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. We work in close collaboration with our clinical colleagues. This has resulted in the development of innovative procedures.

Some of these procedures, which may be performed in both outpatient and inpatient settings, are listed below:

  • Needle Biopsy: Image guided biopsies are performed using either ultrasound or CT guidance in a wide variety of locations including liver, lymph nodes, lungs, mediastinum, abdominal organs and soft tissues.
  • Drainage Procedures: Either therapeutic or diagnostic fluid drainages from a variety of locations including pleural and pericardial cavities are performed under image guidance.
  • Ablative treatments: Include cyst sclerosis and ablations, tumor ablations.
  • Fiducial Placements: Image guided fiducial placements for radiation treatment planning are performed
