About Patrick C. Hsieh , MD

Patrick C. Hsieh, MD, brings to his patients an expertise in complex spine surgery and advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques, including reconstructive surgery for spinal deformities such as scoliosis, spinal trauma and misalignment. He is also an internationally known spine tumor expert for complex spine tumors, such as chordomas, primary spine tumors and spinal cord tumors.

Dr. Hsieh’s research priorities include improving patient outcomes in spine surgery and spinal oncology treatments, along with developing new treatment methods for primary spine tumors. Early in his career, he served as a distinguished scholar at the National Institutes of Health’s Howard Hughes Medical Institute, where he conducted research in neurogenetics and neuro-oncology.

Dr. Hsieh is a sought-after speaker at national and international medical conferences. Since 2017, he has served as an Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant for the National Football League (NFL) and the NFL Players Association. He was chosen as one of America's Top Doctors by Castle Connolly.

Away from work, his favorite things to do with his family include skiing, snowboarding, snorkeling and hiking. He also enjoys golf outings with his daughter and friends.

“The decision for any spine surgery is difficult and stressful. I give my 110% to help all my patients to the best of my abilities, with or without surgery. Not all patients will benefit from spine surgery. For those who can benefit, I utilize the latest and least invasive technology and techniques to get them through surgery and on their way to recovery.

The most important aspect of my relationship with my patients is developing trust and a sense of partnership. I work with my patients so they understand the importance of their engagement throughout the process of making their lives better.”
