After completing this undergraduate degree in Molecular Cell Biology at the University of California Berkeley, Dr. Lee attended and completed medical school at Western University of Health Sciences. His association with the Keck School of Medicine at USC began with an internship at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. He continued at USC for his residency training in Internal Medicine. After that, he also continued his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the USC.

Dr. Lee accepted the position of being a clinical endocrinologist and an academic professor at the Keck School of Medicine. He has received a number of prestigious honors for his teaching, including the Brautbar Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine, the highest graduating award in the internal medicine program. He has a strong commitment in the area of type 2 diabetes in investigating the pathophysiology and defining a better treatment strategy. He had been the director for the Diabetes Center at the Roybal Comprehensive Clinic. He is currently the director of the Diabetes Clinic at the Los Angeles County Medical Center. He has presented his research findings at the national endocrine meetings such as the American Diabetes Association and The Endocrine Society.
