About this doctor:

Dr. Mojtaba Akhtari is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine with the Jane Anne Nohl Division of Hematology and Center for the Study of Blood Diseases at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Before joining USC, he served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Division of Hematology and Oncology, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a Hematologist/Oncologist with medical and hematology/oncology training and experience in the United Kingdom and United States. Dr. Akhtari is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. His experience is fairly wide ranging, having worked in academic medical centers and community hospitals with high clinical workloads and a heavy reliance on clinical skills. He is also a member of the adult bone marrow transplantation team at USC. He has authored several book chapters and many articles in peer-reviewed journals. He received the Humanism in Medicine Award at St. Francis Hospital of Evanston, Illinois. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society of Hematology (ASH), and American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT).
