He also serves as clinical associate professor of surgery at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. Previously, he served as vice chairman of the Department of Surgery, and later chairman of the Department of Surgery for Verdugo Hills Hospital.

Dr. Demeter earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a rotating surgical internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He also completed two residencies – one in general surgery at the University of Hawaii Affiliated Hospitals and an ENT residency at the Los Angeles County – University of Southern California Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
