She completed her internship and residency training in internal medicine at Keck USC School of Medicine, where she further finished gastroenterology fellowship training. After that, she took an extra year advanced training in transplant hepatology at University of Colorado, Denver.

Dr. Yuan’s clinical research interests include Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis and outcome of liver transplantation. She has authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals on various topics in liver disease and liver transplantation.
