About this doctor:

Damien C. Rodger, MD, PhD, has conducted groundbreaking research on the design, fabrication, and testing of high density microtechnologies for retinal and spinal cord prostheses, and has been instrumental in the development of novel bioMEMS for intraocular pressure reduction and monitoring. He has written and coauthored more than forty journal and refereed conference proceeding publications. He has been granted more than twenty patents to date.

Philosophy of Care:
I believe that all patients need to be treated with respect and kindness. I especially want them to feel like I am their coach – helping them through their eye disease one step at a time. As a retina surgeon and uveitis specialist, I feel it is incumbent on me to explain a patient’s disease at length, describe any lifestyle modification factors that may improve the problem and take the time to answer all the patient’s and family members’ questions in order for them to be a fully informed member of the team. I have found that only in this way can we have a successful result. I also endeavor to make sure that care is coordinated across the spectrum of the healthcare system, from providers to staff and caregivers, as this, in my experience, greatly improves outcomes.
