Congenital Heart Care

Adult Congenital Heart Disease Care Center

Setting New Standards for Better Treatment
Backed by the full recognition and prestige of the University of Southern California, one of the world’s leading academic research institutions, Keck Medicine of USC places patients and their families first.

Within this integrated academic medical center setting located on the university’s Health Sciences Campus, the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Care Center is staffed by physicians who are faculty at the renowned Keck School of Medicine of USC. The Center provides comprehensive clinical and surgical care to people born with heart defects. Our specialists in cardiothoracic surgery, and pediatric and adult cardiology, work in tandem to provide the highest level of care for those living with congenital heart disease.

From Our Hearts to Yours
You, or your loved one, have been dealing with a congenital heart condition for many years. Our clinical team is expert at understanding not only the medical issues, but also the lifestyle challenges you face. We believe the best approach to managing complex congenital cardiac conditions is through a multidisciplinary effort that integrates all facets of care. At Keck Medicine of USC, we establish personal relationships with our patients to provide life-long, individualized care.

United in Every Way
We partner with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles—a worldwide leader in the management of complex congenital heart disease—to help young adults with a history of childhood heart disease continue receiving expert evaluation and follow up care as needed. Emphasis is on early preparation and education of patients and families for the long-term management of their cardiac conditions. When ready, patients access our transitional program designed to efficiently transfer medical care of young adults from pediatric care to the adult care setting.

Program Highlights

  • Single-ventricle palliated patients – people born with one ventricle are now living into adulthood, thanks to the surgical approach culminating in the Fontan procedure.
  • Arrhythmia management including catheter treatment, and pacemaker and ICD implantation.
  • Novel, catheter-based interventions for adults with congenital heart disease.
  • Management of pulmonary vascular disease and hypertension.
  • Cardiac transplantation.
